Who it was for
Child Helpline International is a global network of child helplines. Its website has to work for helplines and partners all over the world, and many of its readers are on mobile phones in areas with slow, low-bandwidth connections. Getting essential help information to them was the priority.
What I wrote and produced
I redesigned the global website and its content strategy. I took the content from the existing website and rewrote large parts of it for the new one, organised into About, What we do, Where we work, Partners, Resources and FAQs, with news, events and videos on the homepage.
The redesign also included a members' area for helplines in the network, with a notice board, discussions and shared documents. We produced guidance documents on using the content and the illustrations, and other languages were provided through Google Translate, using a language selector on the site.
Who I worked with
Child Helpline International's CEO and directors.
The result
A new website built around small download sizes, so mobile users in low-bandwidth parts of the world could get essential help information. Traffic to the website doubled, and mobile engagement improved in low-bandwidth regions.
